On Tuesday, July 23rd, Alex Barrio, candidate for Florida House District 43, announced the endorsement of four Democratic Central Florida state legislators.
Senator Victor Torres
State Representative Anna Eskamani
State Representative Amy Mercado
State Representative Carlos Smith
This news comes on top of the endorsement of Congressman Darren Soto in May.
These legislators are some of Florida’s leading progressive voices in Tallahassee, all scoring an “A” on Progress Florida’s People First Report Card. This announcement continues to solidify Alex Barrio as the leading progressive candidate for Florida House District 43 seat.
“As Tallahassee continues to hurt working families in Florida, these are the legislators we count on to fight for us. I’m honored to have their support,” says Alex Barrio. “They know they can count on me to stand alongside them in the fight to protect Florida’s families.”
“If there is anyone who has not given up the fight for a better Central Florida it is Alex Barrio, and I know for a fact that he will bring that fighting spirit to Tallahassee as the Representative for House District 43.”
-Representative Amy Mercado, Florida House District 48
“Alex is just the kind of progressive Democrat we need in the legislature. Barrio is unafraid to stand up for working families and for the most vulnerable who need a voice. His experienced, in-depth understanding of the issues facing Osceola voters is exactly what HD 43 needs.”
-Representative Carlos Smith, State House District District 49
“Alex's background and knowledge of how the legislature works will be an asset and so I endorse him for House District 43. No one else will be able to accomplish what he will be able to for this community in the coming years.”
Senator Victor Torres, State Senate District 15
“Alex’s years in advocacy supporting our working class families makes him the best pick for Florida House District 43. I look forward to serving alongside him in the Florida House.”
Representative Anna Eskamani, Florida House District 47
